This weekend I had the pleasure of spending some quality time with a few of my chapter mates in Lake Lure, NC. After “death by chocolate”, we settled down to business. First session was a “query critique”.
I have one query that I wrote and used. If there was a mistake I could make, I made it. Once this session was complete, I had a tight, workable query. I learned a great deal from each one of the queries that were read.
Next session was a ten page critique. I didn’t have any pages written for Kiss and a Dare, so I submitted the currently rewritten first chapter of Unraveling. Got some fabulous feedback and great ideas. Lauren and Ann spotted quickly that the conflict was still a bit weak. They had some great ideas for me to experiment with. The best part was I got to read their work.
I was floored by the amazing talent in our chapter. I know each one of us will reach our goal and become published authors in our respective genres.
I can’t wait for next year.
